FAQ

General

Do you Work on Customer Cars?

NO. Currently we do not take on customer work. We’re too busy with our personal projects for future episodes. We’ve found it’s too difficult to juggle customer work and work for videos that we’d be doing a disservice to the customer. We’re happy to sell you parts for your next project though! Check our sales pages for our current inventory.

Where do you sell your items? Do you sell any of your cars?

We sell parts here on our website, eBay, Instagram, and in person locally, or at select events. Our inventory is huge and we only have a small fraction of what we have listed online. As a rule of thumb we offer fresh finds to our Sales Page on Instagram Here We treat this page like a swap meet and the first one to claim and pay for an item gets it. If an item doesn’t sell on IG we then put it on our site/eBay for purchase.

What was your shop before you had it?

The main shop downstairs is the original structure and was built in 1947 as an airplane hangar. The shop was renovated sometime later with a block fascia and garage doors. Early in it’s history it housed a small “crop duster” type plane that flew out of a neighboring dirt airstrip on an orchard that was next to our property. The field stone walls is a common type of construction of foundations and barns in our region; but the HUGE I beams in the ceiling are unusual and allowed us the ability to add a second story that where we park finished cars and house the private ITG collection.

Do you allow visitors?

While we do allow visitors; we’re still a private facility and only allow visitors by appointment. Please do not show up unannounced as you may be turned away. As a rule of thumb we really only schedule visits on Sunday’s 9AM-5PM as we’re filming and working otherwise.

Are you hiring?

ITG is made up of a small team and we prefer to keep it that way. We occasionally will look for help but most of those positions are Part Time and entry level/labor related jobs. Keep an eye on our social media for job postings.

Do you accept volunteers, internships, apprenticeships, or mentorship?

As mentioned above ITG is small group of team members that work well together. While we do accept PT volunteers you must be of able body. Most volunteer work will mainly consist of off-camera general labor. We work M-F 9-5 so you would need to be able to volunteer during those hours. We do occasionally accept apprenticeship, internship, and mentorship applications from young men and women that are looking to gain experience in social media/video production, classic car repair/restoration, and internet retail. While some internships and mentorship opportunities can lead to paid apprenticeships and FT positions here; they’re not guaranteed. Applicants must have a strong work ethic, and be dependable. We don’t run a day care or clubhouse for people looking to hang out. You must pull your weight here.

Where did the “IronTrap" name come from?

The term “IronTrap” was originally the nickname for a medieval torture device. It was a “trap you couldn’t get out of”. This term hit home for us as it’s exactly what this old car hobby really is. Once you’re “in deep” with this old iron you’re hooked for life. We love this trap we’re caught in and wouldn’t have it any other way!

Do you buy old cars or parts?

Yes. A big part of our business is the purchase and resale of classic cars and parts. From one part or car to entire collections we’re always looking for leads on new inventory. Feel free to fill out a Contact Form if you have a lead or yourself have something for sale.

Can I buy XYZ off your shop wall?

No. Generally speaking; any of the items seen in the garage or shop are part of our private collection. If we decide to sell a car, parts, or memorabilia out of the shop they will be listed on our IronTrapFinds Instagram sales page first.

Can I help you on a picking adventure? Will you let me know if you’re in my area?

While we do appreciate the enthusiasm for help when we go picking; we’ve found that most times we work best with our small group of employees and volunteers. Occasionally we will put a post up on our social media looking for help; but this seldom happens. We don’t allow people to “tag along” on video shoots. Most of these properties are private and the estate or property owners don’t want a crowd of people there. We pride ourselves in respecting the privacy of our clients so we try and keep our filming locations quiet.
